4. Bob Marley said he is only the messenger for his lyrics. What does this statement mean?

5. On page 1 it states that during the darkest times people raise to the occasion. What is the author talking about? Who rose to the occasion? 

6. The art work and thoughts of Marley, Tupac, and Mayfield are displayed in their volumes of work. Please explain why artist, such as these men, where so compassionate about their lives, the world, and problems that needed to be solved in their lives.

7. On page 2 it says the artist can not turn their back from his time. Because if they turn their back to their time then their work is in a void. This is an interesting statement. Explain what this means.

This story should be a story one of these prompts

1. Itís the last day of school and youíre clearing out your locker when your best friend runs up to you out of breath. ďYou have to come with me right now,Ē your friend says. ďItís a matter of life and death.Ē So you rush with your friend to the cafeteria, only to find several of your classmates have been turned into zombies. What they donít know is that, you are secretly a superhero who kills zombies. Write this scene.

2.  Youíre walking to grab lunch when you see a crowd gathered around a building. You look up and see that someone is standing on the ledge, looking to jump. You hear a police office close to you mention that the person is about to commit suicide. He also mentions the personís name: and itís someone you know! Write a scene where you attempt to stop the jumper from jumping

3. Youíre a pirate on a small pirate ship, that consists of only you, one other pirate and a captain. Recently you ransacked another ship and found a treasure map. After weeks of following it, youíve finally found the island where ďXĒ marks the spot. Write a scene where you find the buried treasure, only itís not exactly the treasure you expected to find

A. Read this story

The Bear and the Two Travelers

  TWO MEN were traveling together, when a Bear suddenly met them on
their path.  One of them climbed up quickly into a tree and
concealed himself in the branches.  The other, seeing that he
must be attacked, fell flat on the ground, and when the Bear came
up and felt him with his snout, and smelt him all over, he held
his breath, and feigned the appearance of death as much as he
could.  The Bear soon left him, for it is said he will not touch
a dead body.  When he was quite gone, the other Traveler
descended from the tree, and jocularly inquired of his friend
what it was the Bear had whispered in his ear.  "He gave me this
advice," his companion replied.  "Never travel with a friend who
deserts you at the approach of danger." 

Misfortune tests the sincerity of friends. 

Go the the PAINT program and draw a picture that depicts this story. Draw the bear, the man, where they were, and anything else in the story that you feel is important. Make sure you placed the above story on the page you draw the picture on. Make sure you upload that picture to your WIKI. SAVE

B.  The Eagle, the Cat, and the Wild Sow

  AN EAGLE made her nest at the top of a lofty oak; a Cat, having
found a convenient hole, moved into the middle of the trunk; and
a Wild Sow, with her young, took shelter in a hollow at its foot.
The Cat cunningly resolved to destroy this chance-made colony.
To carry out her design, she climbed to the nest of the Eagle,
and said, "Destruction is preparing for you, and for me too,
unfortunately.  The Wild Sow, whom you see daily digging up the
earth, wishes to uproot the oak, so she may on its fall seize our
families as food for her young."  Having thus frightened the Eagle
out of her senses, she crept down to the cave of the Sow, and
said, "Your children are in great danger; for as soon as you go
out with your litter to find food, the Eagle is prepared to
pounce upon one of your little pigs."  Having instilled these
fears into the Sow, she went and pretended to hide herself in the
hollow of the tree.  When night came she went forth with silent
foot and obtained food for herself and her kittens, but feigning
to be afraid, she kept a lookout all through the day.  Meanwhile,
the Eagle, full of fear of the Sow, sat still on the branches,
and the Sow, terrified by the Eagle, did not dare to go out from
her cave.  And thus they both, along with their families,
perished from hunger, and afforded ample provision for the Cat
and her kittens. 
 

What is the moral to this story?

Go to PAINT - Draw a picture that depicts this story. Show the CAT, Show the Eagle, show the kittens. Please take your times and truly illustrate the story. Upload the picture to a page on your WIKI. Please make sure this story is on your WIKI with the picture. Save the page.
